For youth: (ages 6 to 16)
Our youth assessment includes neurodevelopmental and educational testing/interviews performed by our physician and health education consultant over multiple visits. Our assessment uncovers information about a child’s learning profile, identifies related strengths and weaknesses, explores factors related to their home, school and community environments, and may expose co-morbid conditions (such as anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, etc.).
Our assessment report includes customized test results, medical and behavioural recommendations, including a personal action plan and an academic accommodations form for the student's teacher.
Within our assessment process, we measure focus across multiple learning areas, including memory, visual/spatial processing, language, and motor tasks. If focusing issues are inconsistent across the domains of learning or if one particular domain is a concern, our psychologist augments the testing with a pyscho-educational profile.
For adults: (17 and above)
Our adult assessment screens for Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and co-morbidities that may affect learning and lifestyle. Over multiple visits, the physician and education consultant facilitate comprehensive testing, review medical and educational histories, and explore self-rated areas of concern. The final visit includes a health education report which outlines specific recommendations and customized strategies for support.
The assessment fee is partially covered by OHIP. All patients begin their assessment with an initial consultation at a fee of $200.00+HST. For some clients, the non-OHIP portion is covered by insurance plans. For Ontario post-secondary students, OSAP offers bursaries to eligible students.
